This is what I'm doing. I'm flying to Nebraska service center friday night. Will put my shelter in front on PO box and will remain there until Monday morning. Once the USCIS guy comes up to pick up the mails, I'm just going to hand deliver my paper before he even opens his mail box.

I am an Indian Tamil and firmly believe that both LTTE and Lankan Army are at fault here. LTTE's tactics have always been to use human cover and the Lankans are guilty of using heavy artillery on civilians. In fact not all the civilians are innocent, some of them are LTTE proponents who prefer to stick with them till their last breath to further promote what is called as Lankan atrocities to the world.
I totally support the Tamil Ealam cause, but the method LTTE has taken would have never gotten them there at the first place. As a country, India should have been a bit more proactive and involved than just supplying arms to the Lankans (which was anyways done to prevent the Lankans from going to the Pakistan or China). So the Indians are just watching the tamasha -- and it is really unfortunate.
How does it bother the Tamilians of India? They are crossed between supporting for Tamil Ealam, death of innocent Tamilians and assassination of Rajiv Gandhi and this leads to mixed feelings. Ideally I would want to see Prabhakaran hanged and Srilankan Tamilians meeting their 3 decade old goals.

Yes, the august bulletin will be showing retrogressed dates. But when August bulletin is issued in mid-July, it does not impact the petitions received in July, because the August bulletin applies to August and even if August is retrogressed until 1975, they still have to accept 485s until 31st July.

H1Bs can work at direct employer or as an employee of direct vendor at off site.
No more small consulting firms sending resumes to direct vendors. May be in long term its good for H1Bs.
Mostly Desi consulting firms will get hit. Outsourcing companies like TCS,Infosys are direct vendors to big clients. They will OK ..
Not just desi consulting co's who makes money just by passing on resumes with a status of 'preferred vendor' / 'partner' etc; but also just look what the big names like Tek systems, Kforce, MOdisIT etc are doing ? they also should be brought to justice in this shameless game of layering / commission based on business . just do not blame only desi co's

It is very troubling to note that one persons identity was uncovered online because his political views and legitimate concerns about the crimes of YSR (Good riddance to him).
IV must delete all posts relating to the uncovering of this gentlemans identity. And ensure it never happens again. If this is not done, we will lose faith and trust in IV.

For my spouse, I've to take care of all the fees for I-485 / I-765 / I-131 / Biometric ( $325 + $180 + $170 + $ 70). For me, I've to take care only I-131 Fees ( $170). The Company Pays the fees only for my I-485 and I-765 and also take care of the Attorney Fees for both of us. They also reimburse the Medical Expenses, if the insurance does not cover the charges, only for Employee/ Primary applicant. For all dependents it is my responsibility.
I just want to point out that whether or not your company helps offset these costs is immaterial at this point. This is money that has gone down the drain. Depending on the Oct. Visa Bulletin, you, or your employer may have to incur the same expenses all over again. So in the end, you may end up spending more than twice the amount of money, and more in application fees.
My only beef is that if the USCIS was intentionally working hard to preempt the deluge in July, WHY DID IT NOT TALK TO THE DOS AND MAKE THIS INFO PUBLIC??? This is unethical and unacceptable conduct.

In my opinion MMS may be a nice person and may be a good economist, but it wasn't him who was running the govt. and it will not be him if he comes back again. It is a very common practice in India, a chemist will run a chemist shop but the License is in somebody else's name. Here also same thing happened, you saw Manmohan Singh on PM's chair, but it was somebody else who was running the show, and it is deception & dishonesty to your voters. It'll be the whole cabinet, most what was during Vajpayee govt. which was much cleaner & much more agressive on developmental issues, they worked on certain agendas, lot of places where you see growth, were actually the good work done by the NDA govt. You may praise Laloo for all the Railway turn around, but the reality is the foundation was layed by then Railway Minister "Nitish Kumar", AI/AI became profitable under "Rajiv Pratap Rudy" . The most important thing from Murthy's letter is that USCIS has started preadjudicating 485 which simply means that there are ton of people stuck in this mess who are waiting to be approved... a handful of visas is nothing...lets all unite and work towards recapture.

I am not a strong believer in Karma as Karma is something whose existence is determined based on the aftermath of success we achieve in our trials and tribulations. I hope that you people appreciate my opinion that geniuine people need not worry abt GC timelines. It will happen. I dont believe in the policy of these L1s getting GCs because most of them, if not all, do not fall under the superior skillsets category. In addition, they unabashedly jump the queue in terms of GC, flout rules and end up lowering the wages of the existing people. This was also the case back then in 2001.
Back then there was a misplaced sense of security amongst these people working for these outsourcing companies that lower salaries meant guaranteed job security. Most of them never had the confidence in their own skills to venture out on their own. They preferred the tutelage and security of their firms. Their skillsets were run of the mill and so they continued diluting the IT wages. It is the same scenario repeating today wherein these type of guys are under the L1 visa. An insignificant minority among these may be talented but it is not worth the time spending to identify these cases. In my opinion, there is no need to feel sympathetic towards the people from these companies. I may seem to sound harsh here but if you think through my opinions you would realize that my opinions are in the best interests of preventing wage destruction for those working directly for companies n a H1B.

this makes no sense (with all due respect to Mr Gotcher). He basically claims that PD has been moved to allow CP cases to be processed faster to avoid visa number wastage.. However he also says that there is a huge backlog of AOS cases. Looking at how many CP cases are being called for interview in mumbai and delhi (low hundreds) I dont see how CP alone can help avoid a big wastage of visas. If USCIS is still 20k short, then its the massive pile of AOS cases they should be using, just like they did last year.
Also, if they waste visa numbers this year, it would be really gross incompetence. EB2-India has gone all the way from 2000 to 2006 this year. They slack off at the start of the year, then scramble in the end. I dont know why they follow this approach knowing full well that right at the end it puts them in a soup.

I am planning on moving to Canada in the next 12 months since I already have PR there. I have no hopes for getting GC any time soon and wouldn't want to be toyed by the USCIS, DOS, Senators and all the anti-immigration lobbies out there.

I strongly feel you guys are right regarding EB1 misuse. I also know of some people who are applying in EB1 using these loopholes. we should do something to stop this fraud.
I've read other people's comments in this thread about how Cognizant is misusing EB1 category. I know a couple of folks who did that. This is something that should be brought up to the right people's observation. I plan to submit WH-4 atleast to begin with, against this company. Please PM me if you know anyone else who frauduently represented himself/herself for EB1 category.

We need to have multipronged strategy:
1. Visa recapture.
2. Removing spouses from EB count or excluding spouses from recaptured visas atleast
3. No country caps for recaptured visas
4. Raising the country cap to say 12-15% per country.
5. Allowing 485 when PD is not current.
6. Skill based points system etc.
We should be for reform which is transparent and fair to all sides. Putting all eggs in one basket may not help. By having multi pronged agenda , we will get atleast something.

You don't want to give any credit to 'Modi' than by your logic, Chandrababu Naidu shouldn't be give credit of 'Andhra' turnaround, Vajpayee shouldn't be given credit for Infrastructure turnaround...In India Politics & Politicians are so important, until they are pro-work, nothing works. UPA govt's attitude was sit & watch for Orders from 10 Janpath, so all of us know how they performed..
