I did the PR Canadian immi. myself and got the approval. The process is straightforward . However, I hesitate to go there . From what I heard is diffucult to get IT job.

If anyone who is stuck in with labor gets oppurtunity must use it. Even people who are jealous are given this oppurtunity will be first to run with that.
Very well said Subst_labor. People like Janak are simply jealous that you had the offer. People like him always will think that you are cheating the system or something like that just because a company offered you a labor substitution. I think that one should not judge such cases, and I am actually happy for all of those who are fortunate enough to receive their green cards sooner because of third factors. Good luck with your Labor subst. I hope the company is OK.

Giving GC's for buying home seems toomuch biased and benefits only a subset of EB, and totally shifts the basis of the EB category.
On the other hand, if their visas can be exempted from the visa numbers(annual quota), but still tied to the visa dates being current for their priority dates, this will benefit the entire community and law makers can justify the approach without stiff oppositions, if any. To me this feels lot more reasonable and everyone(EB applicants) will evenly benefit from this.
Almost 20-30% of the Eb appl. from 2001-2005 should be already in a position to buy or bought a home. That should help dates move faster for older dates.
Just a thought. But this alone will NOT resolve all our issues and backlogs. Just speedsup the date movement in a steadily manner.

I'm not a supporter of any political leader or party and you cannot create one politician that satisfies every citizen of its nation. And that's a simple fact. As long as the vast majority of the population is satisfied with the party administration and get some real benefits out it, that's what I call a real political leader and I see YSR as one among them...
If you really want to vent out your frustration, just go to India and do something about it. Why not change the things the way they are... Its easier said than done ...Don't you think??

USCIS recently added one more constrains on 2 year EAD (i-140 should be approved in case of concurent filling).
My I-140 was approved more than a year ago. My I-485 was applied last July and hence was not concurrent filing.

I don't know much about Canada, but wanted to point out that the Indian state of Kerala also has one of the top literacy rates in the world. And an excellent healthcare system. (Apparently, the expected lifespan of a Keralite woman is longer than that of women in the developed world. And something like 94-95% of babies in Kerala are hospital delivered.) Also, Kerala pays unemployment benefits to educated-unemployed youth; much like Canada. (See wikipedia or google for sources and citations.) Yet, Kerala is certainly nowhere near the top of the list of desired immigration destinations; in fact, Kerala likely has the largest proportion of natives working outside the state.
"A good place to live" does not necessarily translate to "a good place to bring your ambitions to life." (E.g., Kerala also has one of the highest suicide rates.) That's my point.
Anyways, good luck to those who want to move to Canada. IV is all about helping us work on our legal immigration to the US. So I don't think this is the appropriate venue for those who want to go to Canada.

Yes, people can say that Gujarat riots happened when Modi was at helm. But, don't you see why it happened. It was an aftermath of a train was burned and hundreds innocent lives had lost. I don't think any government would have controlled the anger after that incident. That was bound to happen.

No one has to debate who were killed after that....2000 innocent people....your logic that innocent people should be murdered and raped and burnt when other innocent people are killed does not make sense. i am not debating you point of view, in fact i agree that with the darwinism concept and hope the down economy brings gc to good & talented folks. your rollercoaster ride was from Mar 2001 to May 2003, about 2 yrs. in the current scenario people are waiting for 8+ years and most of them like myself at least 3 yrs. the situation is indeed different this time around with labor substitution, L1, porting etc. causing delays for earlier people, that's why you see more venting this time around.

Companies may be under risk of heavy loss when there are too many people are in bench. That means companies which follow rules and regulations are making loss in tough times at the same time Body shops always make money and worst case scenario no loss no gain. Also GC process is uncertain for those who are working in good companies

You have to notice the gap here. SRK was detained for identity check because of his last name. When other officers vouch why he was still detained.
